Parent Teacher Conference Success

Thank you for participating with our teachers during our parent and teacher conferences last week. We had nearly 100% attendance by families and staff collaborated on the successes of our students and set goals for their growth throughout the year.

The PTA sponsored its Book Fair in the library and successfully sold a large number of books continuing to promote our love for reading at Apple Valley!

We have had an incredible start to this 2015-16 school year.  Our Cougar Pride is campus wide and we are enjoying a school wide theme of Superheroes!

Our Super learners and working hard and the rigorous instruction in the classroom continues to advance our learners!  Our talented staff engage our students in higher level thinking activities and common core aligned lessons.  Every child is assessed with the STAR 360 math and reading in the fall, winter, and spring.  This data is driving the instruction and interventions presented to our learners.

In the spring our 3rd and 4th graders will participate in the state Smarter Balanced Assessment.  Last spring our students took the assessment and our scores demonstrate the shift to the common core standards and the dedication to deeper thinking and meticulous instruction.

Apple Valley 3rd grades scored 75.8% on the ELA assessment and 80.9% on the math assessment.

Our Apple Valley 4th graders scored 66.2% on the ELA assessment and 64.4% on the math assessment.

Congratulations to our students on their growth and academics.

We look forward to a fabulous year of adventures and learning at our wonderful school!
